Tokyo, Japan, August 3, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 In response to the devastating magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck Kumamoto Prefecture, Digital Wallet Corporation (DWC)<\/a><\/strong>, the owner and developer of Japan\u2019s leading global mobile money transfer service, Smiles Mobile Remittance (Smiles)<\/a><\/strong>, has donated 1 million Japanese yen<\/strong> to the official Kumamoto Prefecture Earthquake Relief Fund<\/strong> to support disaster relief and recovery efforts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to local authorities, the earthquake claimed 38 lives<\/strong>, injured more than 100 people<\/strong>, damaged over 11,000 buildings<\/strong>, and forced more than 8,500 residents<\/strong> to evacuate. Recovery efforts continue as communities work to restore homes, infrastructure, and essential services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
