Tokyo, Japan – Smiles Mobile Remittance, a leading mobile money transfer platform in Japan operated by Digital Wallet Corporation, and Ria, a global leader in the remittance industry, have announced that they will be waiving remittance fees for customers sending money via credit-to-bank to Turkey following the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the country, as well as Syria, on Feb. 6, 2023.
As of Feb. 14, 2023, the earthquake has caused immense damage, death, and displacement to thousands of people, with more than 40,000 deaths and millions of people in urgent need of shelter and supplies, according to The New York Times.
In response to this crisis, Smiles is committed to providing assistance and support to affected communities by offering free remittance fees for transactions to Turkey.
This offer will be available to all customers sending money from Japan to Turkey via Ria on the Smiles Mobile Remittance app until Feb. 28, 2023.
