The exchange rate is the live market rate that is active at the time you confirm your remittance order. The rate you see at the final step of the transaction is the one that will be applied.

Remittance with incorrect details are subject for cancellation and refund. The remittance amount will be automatically refunded to your Smiles App balance based on the local rate. Remittance fee is not refundable. 

You can easily lower or zero out your remittance fees by applying your accumulated Smiles Points.
