A Smiles customer sent a message to what they thought was the official Smiles Mobile Remittance social media account.

How the scam happened

The scammer told the customer to give them their confirmation code. They also directed the customer to deposit money into their Smiles Wallet as a fee to reactivate their account.

How the customer got hacked

The scammer used the confirmation code to get into the customer’s account. After that, the deposited money was sent to the scammer’s bank account.

TIP: Smiles staff will NEVER ask for your confirmation code or request you to make a deposit.
