How to travel to Bali today

Travel

Hello Smilers! Have you been able to travel since the pandemic started? Or are you still not sure of how to travel in this situation? Different countries have different rules and criterias that you need to meet before entering the country. Some countries such as Japan for example to this date (April 28, 2022)  still have not permitted travel visas yet. Only students and business visas are allowed to enter the country.

For those of you who are itching to travel, we got the top destination for you. Bali! Indonesia is accepting travel visas right now. Not only Bali, but you can also travel around Indonesia too! Even though the Indonesian border is open, there are some criteria and things that you need to know before you book your flight. We are here to list down those things for you, step by step and we hope that this can be your go-to checklist before you travel to Indonesia.

Table of contents

1. Get your visas ready

Before you travel to any country, the first thing that you should check is if you need a visa to travel to that country. For Indonesia, if your country is a part of the ASEAN, you do not need a visa when coming to Indonesia. If you are unsure if you need a visa when traveling to Indonesia, please contact the Indonesian embassy in your country and consult with them. In order to enter Bali, you will need to have a short-visit visa or other entry permit. For more information about Bali visa & immigration regulations, please click here.

2. Vaccination / Quarantine

Have you got your vaccine yet? To enter Indonesia you need 2 doses of vaccination that the Indonesian government recognizes. The government recognizes vaccinations, including but not limited to two doses of Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, and single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. The last dose must be taken 14 days before traveling to Indonesia. Please bring along your original physical or digital vaccination card or certificate in English and have a copy of them just in case the officials need to keep a record of them.

If you already have 2 or more doses of vaccines and your status is fully vaccinated, upon arrival in Bali, there is no need to quarantine and no PCR test is needed in the Bali airport.

If you have 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson, you will need to be quarantined for 5 days in a certified hotel (CSE) and get a PCR test on day 4. You can book these packages along with the hotel. For more detailed information, please click here.

3. PCR test

Once you have your visas and you got your vaccinations, you can now start looking for a flight to Bali. Once you have your ticket booked, you will also need to book your PCR test. To enter Indonesia or Bali, you will have to provide a PCR test result or certificate taken within 2 days before your flight. We recommend that you book your PCR test where you will get your result on that day.

For example, if your flight is on the 26th of May, book your PCR test on the morning of the 25th of May so that you will get the result on that day and you have the time to collect the test certificate/ result and make a copy of them.

4. PeduliLindungi app

You got a negative result for your PCR test, the next and final step before you are ready to go to Bali is to download the PeduliLindungi app.

What is the PeduliLindungi app?

The PeduliLindungi is an app to help relevant government agencies in tracing to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. It requires the community to play a part by scanning a QR code when you are entering public places such as shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants, public transportations and facilities.

You can download the app via Google Play and the App Store. Once you download the app,  you are required to register first through the PeduliLindungi website to apply for verification. Once you have done that, you can now create an account through the PeduliLindungi app and you are ready to use the app. Make sure to give the app access to your location, storage and camera so that you can scan the QR code when you are entering any public places.

We hope that this article will help you prepare for your well-deserved trip to Bali! The immigration regulations are changing by the day. For the latest information and updates about the immigration regulations, please click here
