PSME Teams Up With Smiles, Leading Remittance App, for Landmark Conference in Japan

The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers, or PSME, is the main professional organization for mechanical engineers in the Philippines. Founded in 1952, PSME brings together licensed engineers, plant mechanics and students to improve engineering standards and support professional growth across the country.

Through its local chapters and national activities, including conventions, seminars and engineering exhibitions, PSME works to raise the quality of mechanical engineering practice and promote innovation and industrial development.

Recently, Digital Wallet Corporation, a leading fintech company, partnered with PSME to support the 1st Asia Pacific Regional Conference, hosted by the PSME Japan Chapter on Nov. 22, 2025, at Miraikan Hall, Japan Science and Technology Agency in Tokyo. The collaboration was conducted face-to-face and featured Smiles Mobile Remittance, the absolute No. 1 mobile remittance app in Japan.

The conference brought together Filipino mechanical engineers from across the Asia Pacific region. Attendees participated in keynote speeches, technical sessions on sustainability and innovation, panel discussions on engineering trends, and networking activities. Exhibits and sponsorship booths showcased the latest engineering solutions, while participants also experienced Japanese culture during the event.

In addition, the first-ever Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) Oral Examination in the Asia Pacific region was successfully held in Tokyo from Nov. 19–22, 2025, at the Philippine Embassy. This historic milestone, conducted under the Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering (PRBME), marked the first PME oral examination in Japan and the Asia Pacific region, highlighting PSME’s commitment to global professional standards.

The partnership between PSME and Smiles Mobile Remittance also provided overseas Filipino workers with fast, secure, and affordable ways to send money home, supporting both their professional and personal connections while abroad.
