Smiles Indonesia Team Hosts First Futsal Event – The Smiles BRI Cup 2023

Osaka, Japan – On Aug 20, 2023, Smiles Mobile Remittance Indonesia Team collaborated with Bank BRI to organize their very first futsal event named the “Smiles BRI Cup”. The event was held in Osaka, as part of the “Champions” sports theme for Smiles’ 7th Anniversary and in commemoration of Indonesia’s 78th Independence Day.

The chosen venue for the Smiles BRI Cup was FUT MESSE Tengachaya, with three courts rented for the occasion. The event brought together the Indonesian community residing in Osaka for a day of spirited competition and connection.

One of the Smiles Indonesia staff members shared, “Organizing our first futsal tournament in Osaka for the Indonesian community here has been a privilege. Through this event, we aim to do more than just play – we aim to share our smiles, forge friendships, and strengthen the bonds that unite us.”

Partnering with Bank BRI, a prominent financial institution in Indonesia, added a significant dimension to the event. The Japanese regional representative of BRI, Mr. Hafi, also participated, showcasing the shared commitment to fostering community spirit and cross-cultural connections. As a testament to their support, BRI also generously sponsored the event, further contributing to its success.

The response to the Smiles BRI Cup was overwhelming, with 21 teams registering for the tournament. This not only showcased the community’s enthusiasm for the event but also highlighted the potential for future engagements. Looking ahead, the Smiles Mobile Remittance Indonesia Team is already envisioning similar events in other prefectures, nurturing their connection with the Indonesian community throughout Japan.

As the final whistle blew on the inaugural Smiles BRI Cup, the echoes of laughter, friendly competition, and shared experiences echoed through the courts. The event had achieved its objectives beyond expectations, encouraging unity, bridging cultures and spreading smiles.
