Senior Citizens in the Bicol Region Receive Relief from Smiles Mobile Remittance Following Tropical Storm Trami/Kristine
ActivitiesTokyo, Japan, November 11, 2024 – In response to the significant devastation caused by Tropical Storm Trami/Kristine which formed on Oct. 19, 2024, Smiles Mobile Remittance, known as Japan’s most popular global mobile money transfer service, organized a relief effort in the Bicol Region to support those affected. This initiative provided much-needed assistance to over 160 senior citizens and their families, bringing comfort to one of the most vulnerable communities after the deadly storm.
Held at Zone 5, Bulan, Sorsogon, the event was made possible through the collaboration of an OFW recipient and dedicated volunteers, including senior citizen leaders, barangay officials, tanods and volunteer teachers. Together, they ensured the smooth and safe distribution of Smiles aid packages, offering vital support to the community.
