Digital Wallet Corporation Donates to Katariba 2022
UntaggedTokyo, Japan – At the end of every year, Digital Wallet Corporation (DWC), the operator and developer of Smiles Mobile Remittance, the number one global money transfer service in Japan and 2021 Good Design Award recipient, donates part of its profits to one organization. This holiday season, DWC chose to donate to Katariba for the second time since 2021. This Japanese non-profit organization offers a variety of learning opportunities and encourages children born and raised in diverse environments in Japan to have bright futures.
Katariba has 10 development programs that help high school students mold their futures. DWC specifically picked “Global Roots”, a program geared towards high school students with foreign “roots” who are struggling to find their path to success.
DWC members, in addition to a considerable amount of financial donation, have taken initiative to participate in Global Roots activities where they can help inspire foreign high school students they can achieve whatever they aspire to do. About 60% of DWC’s members are foreigners.
Many of DWC’s team members had to start from ground zero as overseas workers. They initially had minimal Japanese communication skills, had to find a place to live and searched for career opportunities. Every step of the way presented an array of challenges.
“We are excited to take the action to help the young generation and strengthen the international community,” said DWC Founder and CEO Eiji Miyakawa.
As DWC witnessed many of its members experiencing many obstacles, the company was inspired to support the young generation to make an impact on the world. This helped make the decision to contribute to Katariba and its “Global Roots” program.
In addition to DWC’s motivation to strengthen the global community, through its service Smiles Mobile Remittance, took the initiative to create donation programs that correlate with a new tagline “Share our Smiles”. Through “sharing Smiles”, the service and customers collectively raise money to support organizations that help underprivileged families in Asia.
Smiles’ most recent donation programs include “One Million Smiles”, a holiday program that donates Christmas care packages to impoverished families in the Philippines, and a program that helped Vietnamese communities recover from Super Typhoon Nora.
Ultimately, Digital Wallet Corporation hopes that its donation this year will help high school students find their passion and inspire them to discover their career paths.
