How to create an account

1. Select your region
(region is the country where you use Smiles)
2. Tap “Create account” to create a Smiles account
3. Check the box, input your email address, set a password and tap “Sign Up”
4. Input 6-digit code you will receive through your registered email address and tap “Next”​
5. Input an invitation code if you have one. You can set a passcode (optional).
6. Your Smiles account is set up! Move forward to verify it.

Step 2

How to verify account

1. Tap “Register” to start verifying your account​ ​
2. Tap “Let’s go”, check the box to agree and tap “Apply for membership”​
3. Choose nationality and one Japanese​ government-issued ID you hold by tapping on “Select”​
4. Tap the first one to start taking ​frontside of ID​, check if your photo​ is clear and tap ​”Next”​
5. Tap the second one and “Take a backside photo” to start taking backside of ID
6. Take backside photo of your ID, check if your photo is clear and tap​ “Next“​
7. Tap the last one and then tap “Take a selfie” to take a photo of yourself and ID
8. Take a selfie with your ID, check if your photo is clear and tap​ “Next“​
9. Tap “Next” after inputting all your​ info to complete process​
10. Please read and confirm extra details, check the box and tap “OK”, confirm all your info​ and tap “Next”​
11. Tap “OK” to complete​ the process​. Please wait for approval (no need to register again)​ ​*Verification may​ take 2-3 days​ to approve​

Yes, you may register even without a Japanese phone number. If you do not have one, you may input a zero (0).

Approval of registrations usually takes 1 to 3 working days depending on the volume of new registrations. If no confirmation has been received after 3 days, go to "Customer Support" and check whether or not you received a notice regarding the need to redo the registration process.

While waiting for approval, please do not create an account again.

In the Smiles app,

  1. Tap on the notification bell beside your registered name.
  2. Tap on "Notifications" to view the status of your registration.
  3. If there is no problem with your registration, you will receive a welcome message confirming its approval. Otherwise, you will receive a notice containing the instructions on how to correct your submitted details.
