Smiles at the Philippine Festival 2024

The annual Philippine Festival Tokyo was held in Yoyogi Park on December 7 and 8, 2024, with Smiles Mobile Remittances as the major sponsor for the second consecutive year. The event was packed with celebrity appearances, performances, fun activities, and a wide array of food choices.

One of the major parts of the two-day event was the search for this year’s carnival king and queen, the street dance competition, and the singing competition, where the crowd was enchanted by dazzling costumes and performances.

Filipinos living in Japan also got a taste of home with the various food booths offering authentic Filipino food and delicacies. Although the lines got pretty long as there were many people at the event, Filipinos made the most out of it by catching up with friends, singing and dancing along to the music, and having a great time overall.

Celebrities from the Philippines also flew to Japan to join the Filipino community in celebrating the annual festival in Tokyo. They were treated to performances by Kyla, Jeremy G, Dennis Trillo, David Licauco, and the one and only Smiles Global Ambassador, Gabby Concepcion.

Gabby Concepcion as Smiles Global Ambassador

Smiles, as the major sponsor of the festival, had the biggest booth at the festival and even had their own mini stage for their program. They held a donation drive at the booth to help typhoon victims in the Philippines, and in return they offered a meet and greet opportunity with Gabby Concepcion to everyone who helped and donated for their “Share Smiles, Change Lives” campaign.

After Gabby’s stint at the main stage, he went straight to the Smiles booth on both days of the Philippine Festival to meet and take photos with everyone who donated to the cause. The crowd went wild, but everybody patiently waited for their turn and was able to get their photos taken. The team successfully collected an overwhelming amount of donations which were sent to the Philippines at the end of the festival. They expressed their gratitude to everyone who showed up and supported the Share Smiles, Change Lives campaign.

Fun at the Smiles Booth

The Smiles booth was equipped with its own Seven Bank ATM highlighting the availability of the QR code deposit with the Smiles Mobile App. Registrations were done at the booth, and there was also a help desk to accommodate people having problems with their accounts and transactions.

Aside from that, Smilers were able to win points from playing Basketball at the booth, and take home exclusive merchandise from Smiles. The highlight was all the attendees coming together and enjoying the karaoke, partying just like they would back home. It was definitely a celebration of culture and an early holiday treat for everybody.
