The Fireworks display in Japan is well known all around the world and it will make you feel the spirit of Summer. The fireworks display was stopped for 2 years because of the pandemic but it is finally back after 2 years.

For those of you who are enjoying your first Summer in Japan, we recommend that you go to the festivals with your friends using the Yukata (浴衣). Yukata (浴衣) is a formal Kimono that the Japanese people usually use to go to summer festivals such as the fireworks display.

There is no need to wear a Yukata if you don’t have one, just by seeing other people wearing them at the fireworks display, you will feel the spirit of summer in Japan.

Still on the topic of wearing a Yukata (浴衣) for summer in Japan,  you can use them to visit the Summer festivals in Japan. Like the fireworks display, the summer festivals in Japan just resumed this year. One of the famous festivals that represent summer in Japan is the Aomori Nebuta Festival.

The Aomori Nebuta Festival is a big summer festival in Japan in the Aomori prefecture. If you are not from there, don’t worry as there are smaller scale festivals and they are probably nearer to you. In each area, there will be a festival on a smaller scale. There will be food stalls and also traditional games at the festival. Be sure to visit them as it is going to be a memorable summer.

The Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) in Japan lasted for 7 months from March 25 – October 30 but because there is the famous Summer Koshien, a Japanese high school baseball tournament in Osaka, most Japanese people in Japan tie baseball closely with summer. If Koshien is not in your area, not to worry you can watch the NPB baseball as there are 12 teams located all across Japan.

Even if you do not understand baseball, baseball is a highlight of summer in Japan. It is a  culture on its own in Japan and we recommend that you try going to the stadium near you and enjoy the game while having a cold one and just feel the passion.
